Playcentres across Aotearoa are calling on support from individuals and businesses in their local communities on Giving Tuesday (3 December).

Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of radical generosity. It’s a day that encourages people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

“This Giving Tuesday, Playcentre is calling for donations of time, money, resources or just your voice to ensure we can continue to reach tamariki and whānau with quality learning opportunities, parent education, and support,” says David Moger, Chief Executive, Playcentre Aotearoa.

  • Time: Are you able to donate your time to support your local Playcentre community? For example, to help at working bees to upgrade property or playground facilities?
  • Money: Playcentre is a nationwide charity that relies heavily on donations. We welcome donations to Playcentre Aotearoa or to any of our 400 local centres.
  • Resources: Are you able to provide products or services from your business to help support your local Playcentre?
  • Voice: Your voice in your community is important to amplify our messages.  This could be as simple as sharing our social media posts with your own social media networks.

Playcentres are calling for support to help:

  • provide quality play and learning resources for tamariki from birth to school age,
  • support delivery of adult education for parents and whānau,
  • improve building and playground facilities to ensure a quality learning environment for tamariki, and
  • operate infant programmes in remote rural communities.

For over 80 years, Playcentre has offered tamariki and whānau the chance to play, grow, and learn together, valuing parents as the first and best educators for their children, and strengthening family and community connections.

Your generosity enables over 400 Playcentres nationwide to support children to learn through play, and to provide parent education courses that enhance the understanding of the education and care of children.

You can donate to Playcentre Aotearoa or your local Playcentre (please include the name of your local centre in the comments when making your donation).
