We are a small centre in the heart of beautiful Days Bay with a relaxed and inclusive (i.e. anyone can come, not just mums) ethos.
Our sessions are child-led, with activities made up on the spot according to the interests of the tamariki attending the session. Our tamariki love doing everything from making gloop to playing in our huge covered sandpit, blowing child-size bubbles, swinging, climbing and harassing our local insects. And of course we stop for morning tea, where we sing, read stories, and share ‘news’ in a relaxed, home-like setting.
Our kids of all ages (0-5) play together and it’s a great way to support learning through play and development of social skills which they can take on with them into the next stages of their lives.
Adults accompanying tamariki to Days Bay Playcentre include Mums, Dads, Nanas, Grandads and Nannys. It’s a great place for a cuppa, to meet other families, and to make a mess outside of your home!
Please come and drop in for a session and come and see what we’re all about.
At Playcentre, early childhood education is a shared journey. We value parents as the first and best educators for their tamariki, which is why parents attend alongside their tamariki – to play, learn and grow together.
Whether you have a new pēpī, preschooler, or are new to a community, Playcentre provides a place for whānau and communities to come together.
If you care for tamariki aged 0-6, we invite you to visit and experience our affordable, unique, and child-led environment. Our centres encourage learning through free play and nurture imagination, confidence, and connection.
Our licensed early learning centres follow the Ministry of Education’s world-leading bicultural curriculum, Te Whāriki, offering 16 different areas of play set up to cater for different interests, skills, ages and abilities.
We also provide a free, NZQA-approved, adult education programme for enrolled whānau to add practical strategies and skills to your parenting toolbox.
We offer three visits before you enrol. Arrange a visit today and experience our supportive, fun and friendly community for yourself!
