Curriculum Advisors Join Playcentre Hui to Explore Tāhūrangi and Kōwhiti Whakapae
In the last week of July, Curriculum Advisors for Early Learning, Angela Smith (Tāmaki Herenga Waka – Auckland South and South Wet) and Talia Goodger ( Tāmaki Herenga Manawa – Auckland Central and East), joined Playcentre’s Upper North Island support team at their regional hui to delve into the rich curriculum resources available on the Tāhūrangi – Te Whāriki Online.
The hui provided an engaging platform for Playcentre Centre Advisors to participate in hands-on activities designed to familiarise them with the online resources. These activities sparked meaningful discussions around how the tools could be used to support parent education in implementing Te Whāriki within their centres. The hui also included a brief introduction to Kōwhiti Whakapae, the newly released curriculum resource aimed at strengthening children’s progress through intentional teaching practice. The Playcentre support team responded with great enthusiasm, recognising the potential of Kōwhiti Whakapae to enhance planning and assessment processes.
The team expressed keen interest in continuing this learning journey and have invited the Curriculum Advisory Service to return for a deeper exploration of the resource.
