Immunisations this winter
Increasing our immunisation coverage is the best prevention to protect our communities from illnesses this winter. The northern hemisphere has reported a severe flu season, and Aotearoa New Zealand is currently experiencing a pertussis (whooping cough) epidemic.
You can support your whānau and community by emphasising the importance of immunisation, letting them know what immunisations they are eligible for and where these can be accessed.

The Early Childhood Education Food Programme
KidsCan have started delivering food boxes to 105 eligible early learning services. Implementation will be staggered, up until the 10,000 children funding threshold is reached.
KidsCan is working alongside the Te Kōhanga Reo National Trust with onboarding Ngā Kōhanga Reo that are interested to join the programme from May.
Eligible early learning services will be contacted directly with an invitation to join the programme.

Giftedness from Pacific perspectives
A new resource is available to help you and your kaiako explore what it means to be gifted for children under five, seen through different Pacific perspectives.
It includes:
- four videos from different Pacific experts who share their cultural perspectives on giftedness
- written summaries of each video, which highlight key points and provide insights into how to engage with Pacific children and their families appropriately.
The videos and their summaries help you and your kaiako create supportive environments that nurture the talents of gifted Pacific children.
