Tips for sharing your mihi/pepeha in hui

Whakawhanaungatanga considerations while working online.

Here are some recommendations for tikanga/our practices for hui for Te Whānau Tupu Ngātahi, firstly consider the size of your group, for large groups gathering for a presentation, rather than meeting together to get to know one another here are some suggestions to ensure hui run to time:

  1. Use a simple introduction including your name and title for instance: Ko Erana ahau, he kaimahi au mō Te Whānau Tupu Ngātahi o Ōtautahi.
  2. Introduce yourself and your centre; Ko Erana ahau, ko Te Whānau Tupu Ngātahi o Redwood tōku whānau.
  3. Introducing your centre collective; Nō Te Whānau Tupu Ngātahi o Redwood ahau/māua/mātou i/we/are from Redwood Playcentre.
  4. Arrive early so you may share your pepeha/mihimihi/whanaungatanga before the webinar or workshop begins.
  5. Consider adding your pepeha into the group chat if there are time constraints.
  6. When the opportunity arises for kanohi ki te kanohi hui face to face meetings, please share your pepeha or mihi of introduction at the beginning after karakia.
  7. If you are familiar with one another, set aside pepeha practice time “he kaitūao mō Te Whānau Tupu Ngātahi” I am a volunteer of Playcentre Aotearoa.
  8. Karawhiua – just go for it!
