Funding for Playcentres: Top Tip for March

Are there new funding sources available to support your centre right now, especially specific to your region? Or funders who usually fund specific activities, which cannot happen currently, who are still looking to distribute the funds they have available? Funders usually review their policies and criteria at least once a year, so take some time to review the authorised purposes of funders in your area. You might find a new funding source!

Ministry of Education – Targeted Assistance for Participation (TAP)

Nationwide – Round 2 closes 15 April

There are several rounds through the year. TAP is a property assistance fund that contributes towards establishment and expansion of early learning services. Creating new child places and supporting participation in high quality early learning that is responsive to the needs of tamariki and whānau. TAP supports services in Māori, Pacific, low socio-economic communities, and areas where participation is low and there are limited child places available.

TAP proposals will need to be located in areas where:
• The service will be supporting Māori, Pacific and/or low socio-economic communities
• participation rates are low and there is a lack of sufficient child places.

Support with Grant Funding Applications

As your Grants Administrator, I am passionate about supporting centres with their grant funding applications.

Some of the areas I can help with are to provide an affiliation letter or Spotlight (finance) report, point you in the direction of who might be suitable to apply to, help you with some benefits and outcomes or be there for struggling centres that need a lot of help with their application.

You can email me on [email protected]. To support as many centres as possible and ensure quality applications, any new grant applications need to be sent to me for review at least one week before the closing date.

You can also find lots of information to assist you with your funding applications on the Grants section of the Playcentre website (you need to first be logged in as a member).
