Outram Playcentre, on the outskirts of Dunedin, has been “overwhelmed” by the community support it has received after the centre was vandalised over Easter.

The Playcentre which is a non-profit, run by local parents for over 50 years, set up a Givealittle page to fundraise to repair the damage caused by the vandalism.

Since then, their Givealittle page has received more than $6,000 worth of donations.

“The support we have received has been overwhelming and humbling,” said Outram Playcentre facilitator Julie Bathgate.

“All the offers of donations, equipment, labour has been incredible. We are feeling well supported and valued by our community,” said Bathgate.

Playcentre is a nationwide charity with 420 centres throughout the country.

It is the dominant provider of early childhood education in rural areas of New Zealand.

Outram Playcentre welcomes families with children aged 0-6 years. You can contact them to arrange a free visit at [email protected].
