We hope the start of Term 4 has brought some sunshine and plenty of time outside.

Dinsdale Playcentre’s 50th Anniversary

In late September, Peta and Alice joined Dinsdale Playcentre’s 50th anniversary celebrations. The kids had a fantastic time with the bouncy castle, face painting, and lots of play. It was a great atmosphere, and the organisers did a wonderful job bringing everyone together for such a special milestone.

Healthy Futures Summit

Heather attended the Healthy Futures Summit hosted by Health Coalition Aotearoa, where more than 170 people gathered in support of prevention and equity in health. Keynote speakers included Hon. Dr Ayesha Verrall and Dr Elana Curtis. Speakers and workshops focused on the influence of harmful industries, the urgency of addressing systemic inequities, and the strength of rangatahi in driving change.

Trustee Board Elections

Earlier this month, Fran Cowie and Peta Vassalini stepped down as trustees. We want to thank them both for their contribution and commitment over their time on the Board. Ka nui te mihi i te whakapau kaha, mō Te Whānau Tupu Ngātahi te take.

Tangata Tiriti Representatives will soon begin the selection process according to Clause 9.12 of the Trust Deed and outlined in the Rules to select a new interim trustee for a one-year term. Keep an eye out for the advertisement and feel free to share it with anyone who might be interested.

The upcoming selection process won’t affect the current election and we encourage all centre whānau to cast their votes before voting closes on 31 October 2025.

Whānau can be part of and vote for Te Whare Tikanga Māori if they are tangata whenua or have tamariki who whakapapa Māori.

Whānau can be part of and vote for Tangata Tiriti if they are not members of Te Whare Tikanga Māori. This also includes whānau Māori who choose to vote for Tangata Tiriti trustees.

Candidate profiles for each Whare vacancy can be found here. Each whānau with one or more tamariki currently enrolled in Playcentre is eligible to vote. Voting papers have been emailed to the whānau member listed as the Primary Caregiver in our system.

If you’re eligible and haven’t received your voting form, please get in touch by emailing [email protected]

Ngā mihi nui tonu, to all our Playcentre whānau for your continued support and participation in the election. Your voice makes a real difference and helps shape the future of Playcentre.

Nā mātou noa nā,

Alice, Andrea, Bes, Heather, Natalie-Rose mātou ko Ruth.
