As we journey ki te pae tawhiti, toward distant horizons, we embrace the opportunity for renewal and new beginnings. Mate atu he tētēkura, ka whakaeke mai he tētēkura - As one frond perishes, another grows in its place.

Transition to the New Operational Model

Playcentres across Aotearoa, as registered charities, have traditionally held Annual General Meetings (AGMs) to meet the requirements of the Charities Act.

We are now in a transition phase, moving into the new operational model. Centres are at different stages of this journey. Some have already deregistered as charities, while others are still in the process. If you are unsure where in the process your centre is, do not worry as your Finance Transition Administrator will support you through any actions when they are needed.

As we are in this transition period, we encourage centres to reflect on the year, ensure the officers of the charity are up to date, and celebrate successes.

Celebrating Successes

In the spirit of our Playcentre values, we encourage whānau to take time to celebrate the year:

  • Reflect on your centre’s growth and development
  • Acknowledge achievements
  • Set goals for the coming year

This is a great opportunity to explore new ways of working as a cooperative under the new operating model, with a continued focus on Children’s Learning, Adult Education, and Community.
