Formed in 1941, Te Whānau Tupu Ngātahi o Aotearoa – Playcentre Aotearoa is a licenced early childhood education provider and charitable trust. About the role:
This role supports the delivery of high-quality Playcentre and Space programme sessions by creating safe, welcoming, and engaging environments for parents/whānau and tamariki. Working closely with centre members and the Whānau Programme Lead, you will guide session activities, facilitate learning through child-led play, support planning and assessment for learning, and ensure programmes run smoothly in line with Playcentre philosophy and Te Whāriki.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging sessions that support infant and child development through play, incorporating music, movement, storytelling, Heuristic Play, and inclusive learning experiences
- Build strong, responsive relationships with tamariki and parents/whānau, valuing individual strengths, cultural identities, and encouraging active participation and connection
- Maintain safe, well-organised sessions by managing set-up and pack-down, monitoring attendance and records, following health and safety requirements, and contributing to programme evaluation and professional development

- This is a casual position available at various Playcentres within the Kāpiti Coast District for both Session Facilitator and Programme Facilitator roles.

About you:
You are reliable, collaborative, and confident supporting whānau in a group setting. You bring strong communication and relationship-building skills and are passionate about supporting tamariki and parents during the early years. This role offers an opportunity to grow your experience, develop new skills, and make a meaningful difference in families’ parenting journeys.
You will also have:
- Minimum Course 3 of the Playcentre Education Diploma or equivalent ECE Qualification (L4 or above desired)
- Sound knowledge of Te Whāriki, ECE regulations, and a demonstrated commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- A genuine passion for Playcentre philosophy and empowering whānau to feel welcomed, included, and engaged
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Confidence using technology to support learning, communication, and administrative tasks
- Current First Aid Certificate or be willing to achieve this
- NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa
