Last term, Southland Playcentre and SPACE representatives sadly farewelled Debbie Fordyce.

From left, Adele Auld, the other half of Debbie’s SPACE facilitation team, Debbie Fordyce, Glenda Templeton, Southland Playcentre Association Life Member, and Jacqui O’Connor, SPACE facilitator and long time Southland Playcentre supporter.

Debbie started in the Southland Playcentre Association as a paid educator at Roslyn Bush Playcentre. She held this position for 14 years, but also contributed to our Association in a variety of roles.

She was one of the first group of SPACE facilitators to bring SPACE to the south. In this role, she worked with approximately 600 families over the time of facilitating this programme.

Debbie was also a facilitator for our Southland Playcentre Education programme facilitating many workshops up to Course 5, which she completed herself in 2015. She also imputed into many, many trainees with her commenting on their assessment tasks, always including encouraging comments and thoughtful feedback.

Debbie is already greatly missed around the Southland Playcentres, but we wish her the best as she moves into other employment.
