The week of 4-8 November was full of fun, sun and PLAY in the parks and playgrounds of the greater Wellington area. Local Wellington and Kapiti Playcentre’s brought their love of play out into the open air bringing traditional Playcentre activities like Gloop, playdough, box houses, trains, waiata, birdseed sensory trays, bikes and bubbles with them and invited all Wellington whānau to share it with them.

It was BIG….well of course it was, it’s the Big Play Out! With beautiful weather Monday to Thursday we got to meet between 100 and 300 whānau at each morning event. The Friday event decided to try and catch a break that was forecast in the weather for lovely Raumati Beach but in the end the rain came and so the hordes of people keen on our Facebook event stayed home and kept dry. Babies and rain are a difficult combo.  It didn’t put a damper on our train riding ability though and many of our Playcentre tamariki enjoyed a rainy play in the splash pad too!

It was so much fun sharing our love of all things Play, meeting new families and hanging out with our Playcentre whānau building strong connections and communities.
