West Harbour Playcentre held a celebration and blessing of their new playground on 12 August.
The playground upgrade was completed on 11 March 2022. However, the celebration and blessing of the new playground was a chance for the Playcentre to thank all those in the community that made the project possible.
In her speech at the event, Playcentre parent Cherry Tong thanked The Trusts (Your West Support), Foundation North, and The Trusts Community Foundation for their financial support to complete the playground project.
“We wanted to express our appreciation in person to our funders, our regional office, our current and past members, family and whānau, and all those local businesses who have been so generous in supporting our fundraising for this project,” said Tong.
The event was attended by Playcentre Aotearoa Chief Executive David Moger, West Harbour Playcentre Life Member Fran Hooper, The Trusts Your West Support, Triangle Park Community Teaching Garden, Playcentre regional staff , current and previous West Harbour Playcentre members and West Harbour School.
According to Moger, “the centre can now provide a healthy and safe playground for their tamariki and for those families and playgroups who hire the centre to enjoy.”
