If your centre has, or is thinking about having, a Centre-paid employee here are a few key points that you need to be aware of:
Unfair Disadvantage: As we are now one national organisation, with Playcentre Aotearoa being the employer for all the employees, we need to ensure that employees in similar roles are given similar opportunities and benefits. This means that centres cannot offer higher payrates, additional allowances, bonuses or other benefits to the employees working in their centre that are out of line with what is being offered to other employees in similar roles.
This is particularly relevant in relation to Session Facilitators or Session Support Workers who need to move to the new qualification levels. Whilst we understand and appreciate that centres may want to offer financial support or incentives to the employees in their centre, this cannot be done as it could be seen as unfairly disadvantaging those employees in other centres who are not receiving the same offer.
Reminder: It is important that an employee’s right to privacy is respected at all times.
If you are to have a safety check then please be aware that we are now using CV Check New Zealand to complete the checks on our behalf. They will contact you directly and provide their report to us.
Our Safety checking procedure can be viewed here: https://www.playcentre.org.nz/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/7.2.2-Safety-Checking-Procedure.pdf
If you have any queries about your check please email [email protected]
Reminder: It is important that an employee’s right to privacy is respected at all times. Discussions about an employee’s performance or employment conditions should only be held in private with the Centre President and/or the Centre Advisor.
