A huge congratulations to Annie Zhang from North Shore who recently completed the requirements for Course 6. This is only the 6th Playcentre Diploma in Early Childhood and Adult Education to be awarded. This is a very special achievement and represents a considerable amount of work over a number of years. Annie completed Course 2 in 2014, Course 3 in 2015, Course 4 in 2016 and Course 5 in 2017. Well done Annie.

Many are on track to complete course certificates in the Diploma programme before awards in this old programme end in December. There have been 6 Course 4’s, 33 Course 3s and 34 Course 2’s awarded in the first term of 2019. It is still worthwhile to finish the Course you part way through as you will be able to use a Course 4 for licensing even beyond the transition period and C2 and C3 until the transition to the PIA, PEA and NZ Cert in ECE and Care (level 4) takes place in 2021 (or 2022 if Playcentre needs an extension of time to build up the numbers of Playcentre folk with the new qualifications.)

Workshops

The link to BookWhen, where you find and book in to attend workshops, is still on the Playcentre website. Look under Current Members/Education/Find a workshop. If you type “workshop” into the search function it will bring up ‘Find a workshop’ for you. There are Frequently Asked Questions at the bottom of the Find a Workshop page to answer common questions about workshops and using BookWhen.

We are currently re-naming the districts or areas when advertising workshops in BookWhen – the old association names are a mystery to new people so we are attempting to use geographical names to help you find workshop locations which might be convenient or near where you live. You do not have to go to workshops within your own region – you can choose where-ever suits your needs. The actual location of the venue, usually a Playcentre, is shown on a map with the BookWhen information specific to the event or series.
