The 2019 Annual Conference will begin with both the Tangata Tiriti hui and Hui ā-Tau Māori on Friday 22nd November 2019 at 1.45pm, the meeting will conclude at 1:00pm Sunday.

As previously advised there are 48 spaces allocated for attendance (24 Tangata Tiriti House attendees and 24 Te Whare Tikanga Māori attendees). Each hui is expected to have 4 attendees from each of the six regions totally (4 x 6 = 24 Tangata Tiriti / 4 x 6 = 24 Te Whare Tikanga Māori).

TWTNoA-PA clause 5.6 indicates Representatives to General Meetings (and including Tāngata Tiriti House and Te Whare Tikanga Māori) will be determined by an election process according to each house’s protocols that have regard to geographical and other representational principles.

As good governors there is an expectation that delegates meet the same expectations of the Trustee which can be found in our constitution clauses 11.7.2. Specifically 520 hours.

Please note that the budget for Conference 2019 attendance is for adult attendees only and there is no allocation for tamariki to attend.

If you register, we are unable to change transport arrangements. Significant cost has been previously recorded as a result of attendees cancelling and/or requesting someone attend in their place. Flights are booked in the name of the registered individual and changes cannot be made to names only to time and date of flights.

Ka mua, ka muri is a Māori proverb that expresses a great truth around a simple image. The image is of a person walking backwards into the future. It suggests that the past is clearly visible but the future is not, that we have imperfect information for the road ahead, but also that this is a natural state of affairs.

Let us look back for clues to the way forward, but also understand that the future is unwritten. The future comes out of the past but will not be identical to it. The only unchanging thing is change.
