The financial statements for the Playcentre Aotearoa Group have now been signed off by the auditors and are available for use in grant applications.

The fantastic news is that the Group made a surplus of $4.8m, compared to a loss last year of $1.4m!  This is partly due to the one-off government grant that Playcentre received in October 2020, but even so, it is an excellent result.  We increased our income from bulk funding and, leaving aside the one-off grant of $3.7m, also substantially increased our grants revenue.  Expenditure has also increased, mainly due to higher staff costs as the number of session facilitators has grown.

We know that we have some challenges at present, many caused directly or indirectly by the Covid-19 pandemic.  This will affect some centres more than others, but it should give us some confidence to know that we were running in surplus overall before these disruptions.  The hard work being done by many volunteers and staff to ensure we claim all the bulk funding we are entitled to, pro-actively seek out grants and get the best value for the money we spend has paid off, so well done!
