Signage for your Centre
Are you planning to replace an old Playcentre sign or purchase a new Playcentre sign or flag for your centre?
Please refer to Playcentre Aotearoa’s Signage Procedures in the first instance.
Our signage procedures outline the process you need to follow to ensure that our brand guidelines are followed consistently. There are several signage templates that you can choose from and a list of preferred suppliers. It is recommended that you seek quotes from our preferred suppliers, as they have all the correct signage templates on file and can organise design, print and installation of any Playcentre signage you may require.
Most of our properties are leased and many have conditions associated with signage as part of them. Therefore, any new signage, including flags and sidewalk moveable signs, will need to apply for approval through the Property Team. As well as leases, some of this type of signage will require Council Consent.
Before you print any new signage or replace existing signage, please consult with the Marketing and Communications Team and the Property Team.

Somerset Bear’s adventure at Levin Playcentre
The winner of our Somerset Bear’s picnic in the park competition was Levin Playcentre.
While at Levin Playcentre Somerset Bear went on an excursion to Ōtaki Park and met with tamariki and whānau from Ōtaki, Shannon and Ōhau Playcentres. Everyone had a lovely time exploring the woods and enjoying a teddy bears picnic.
Great to see tamariki and whānau from Levin, Ōtaki, Shannon and Ōhau Playcentres connecting with their wider Playcentre community through hapori, which are informal groups of Playcentres.
Ki te kotahi te kākaho, ka whati; ki te kāpuia, e kore e whati – Kīngi Tāwhiao.
When we stand alone, we are vulnerable; but together, we are unbreakable.

New Zealand Sign Language Week
Every May, Deaf Aotearoa organise New Zealand Sign Language Week (5-11 May), a vibrant celebration of one of the country’s official languages, alongside English and Te Reo Māori.
In the early childhood setting, New Zealand Tertiary College lecturer Shu-Yen Law says building awareness of and incorporating New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) nurtures inclusiveness amongst tamariki and the wider community, helps to remove barriers and provides another beneficial tool for communication.
“For tamariki, kaiako, or whānau who are deaf or have hearing impairments, it is crucial for their sense of belonging to know that their language is promoted and used for communication that supports their needs.”
There are resources designed specifically for the early childhood education sector available at the link below.
