Purpose of the position:

Space is an amazing programme that gives new parents that ‘village’ they need to help raise their baby. Many Space members move on to become Playcentre families.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Programme Facilitator to join our team in the Tauranga area. You will assist in the delivery of the Space Programme and work with babies and their whānau, ensuring participants are supported to build relationships with each other. As a Programme Facilitator, you and your co-facilitator will help parents and their babies connect with other new parents while exploring parenting, children’s development and most importantly, play, in a safe environment.

Location:

Various Playcentres in the Tauranga, Whakatane, and Omokoroa areas.

Days & hours: 

Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 3.00pm, during school term time only. This is a casual role so you will be relieving where required. 

We will begin reviewing applications upon receipt.

The candidate must:

  • Have completed Playcentre Course 3, Level 4, equivalent or higher ECE Qualification. (May consider – PEA if currently enrolled in Playcentre Education with their level 4).
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be prepared to complete this.
  • Be prepared to facilitate across multiple centres.
  • Be prepared to complete the Space level one training that takes approx. 4-6 hours. You will need to do this in your own time.

Desirable skills and experience will include:

  • A passion for working with new babies alongside parents and caregivers.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the value of Playcentre and its philosophy, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and using Te Reo on session; and how to apply Te Whāriki
  • Having great interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence speaking within a group. Is warm and welcoming, an excellent listener and empathetic.
