We’re seeking a vibrant, motivated, creative, and passionate educator with a sparkling personality to join our well-resourced centre to support our tamariki, parents and whānau in facilitating engaging sessions through child led play. 

You will work alongside our Centre whānau to open the sessions and guide activities, facilitate learning for our members and tamariki while encouraging child led play and role modelling positive guidance. 

To support whānau in the use of Te Reo Māori, encourage participation in the Playcentre Education programme to increase qualification levels at our centre, and demonstrate the benefits of participation to whānau. 

Let your inner author shine by writing leaning stories highlighting tamariki achievements, developments, learning and wonders while supporting whānau with exploring the light bulb moments as they happen.  

We are all about mentoring and supporting parents/whānau/members/tamariki as we explore and learn alongside each other during these very special years.

Location:

Hinuera Playcentre.

Days & hours:

Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays 9.00am – 12.30pm, during school term time only. This is a fixed term position, ending 6 June 2025.

We will begin interviewing suitable candidates as applications come in and could appoint to this position before the application period has closed.

The ideal candidate must have the following:

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification or higher or an Early Childhood qualification of Level 4 or higher.  
  • A current First Aid Certificate or be willing to achieve this.

Desirable skills and experience will include:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Te Whāriki and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. 
  • A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with tamariki and adults. 
  • An ability to support and empower parents, whānau and caregivers in their role as kaiako.
  • A willingness to upskill and meet new Playcentre qualification requirements as required; Confidence when speaking within a group.
  • A passion for supporting Te Reo Māori and tikanga and engaging all whānau to feel a sense of belonging within our centre.
