Hello, Kia ora, Ni hao, Kia orana, Talofa, Bonjour, Malo e lelei, Hola, Konnichiwa, As-salaam alaykum, Hej!
We are a small, friendly centre based in the heart of Newtown. We provide unique and high quality learning experiences for young children and their families. Our sessions are mixed age and open to 0 – 6 year olds, with a focus on child initiated play. We offer great facilities including a lovely garden and outdoor play area. Te Wanawana Newtown Playcentre is a safe, supportive learning environment for children and adults alike, and is perfect for parents and whanau who wish to be involved in the early education of their child / children. Our children are supported to become confident, competent self-directed learners through play based around their interests. They gain knowledge through play, participation and positive guidance.
Our children’s curiosity and creativity is nurtured through the fun range of experiences provided … no two days at Playcentre are the same.
Our children develop nurturing and social skills which have lifelong benefits. Siblings attend together, allowing older children to mentor younger children and practice empathy and caring.
Our parental relationships developed through Playcentre provide support and friendship. Normalising developmental stages in children and parenting alike, which help develop your tool box of skills and reduce stress. This is where you find your village!
Our parents are actively involved in providing our children’s learning programmes. The high adult to child ratio allows a good balance for group and individual support during each session.
There is no other organisation for early childhood education and family development quite like it in the world. Thousands of kiwi children, and their parents too, have grown up with Playcentre … book in for your three visits today and come and join the fun.
At Playcentre, early childhood education is a shared journey. We value parents as the first and best educators for their tamariki, which is why parents attend alongside their tamariki – to play, learn and grow together.
Whether you have a new pēpī, preschooler, or are new to a community, Playcentre provides a place for whānau and communities to come together.
If you care for tamariki aged 0-6, we invite you to visit and experience our affordable, unique, and child-led environment. Our centres encourage learning through free play and nurture imagination, confidence, and connection.
Our licensed early learning centres follow the Ministry of Education’s world-leading bicultural curriculum, Te Whāriki, offering 16 different areas of play set up to cater for different interests, skills, ages and abilities.
We also provide a free, NZQA-approved, adult education programme for enrolled whānau to add practical strategies and skills to your parenting toolbox.
We offer three visits before you enrol. Arrange a visit today and experience our supportive, fun and friendly community for yourself!
