Messy Play Week
Competition winners
Thank you to everyone who entered out Messy Play Week video/photo competition.
Our winners are Avonhead, Freeman’s Bay, Normanby, Whitianga, and Park Road Playcentres who will each receive a $100 Playcentre Shop voucher.
“At Avonhead Playcentre we don’t just get messy during Messy Play Week. Some of our kids that are graduating pick a Colour Run for their last day at Playcentre. We have had three graduation colour runs and a messy play one within the last six months! It’s not just the kids getting messy the parents and even our session facilitator all join in the fun.”
We will be sharing their entries in the Playcentre Facebook Group over the coming weeks.

Playcentre Community Leaders Facebook Group
A reminder that we have a new Facebook group for leaders of local Playcentre communities to discuss ideas, ask questions and support each other as a wider leadership community across Aotearoa.
If you hold a leadership position at your local centre, we encourage you to join the Playcentre Community Leaders group.
How to keep your social media accounts safe
With a continuously evolving digital landscape, and increasingly sophisticated scams and hacking, it’s more important than ever to think about security on our Playcentre social accounts.
Here’s a few key steps to follow to keep your accounts, and Playcentre’s reputation, safe:
- Get your page added to the Playcentre Business Manager. This keeps your page safe in case someone leaves or loses access and gives you extra insights and functionality.
This does not mean your page will be managed or posted to by national office, it’s just a protective step.
Contact [email protected] for help with this.
2. Ensure you update passwords regularly and don’t use easy to guess words e.g. CentreName2025. Phrases are good, randomly generated passwords are better.
3. Make sure anybody that has access to Playcentre pages uses multi-factor authentication on their personal accounts and devices. We recommend Microsoft or Google Authenticators. You can also authenticate via text.

4. Have a minimum of two people with access to your accounts.
Who to contact for support
For the day to day running of your centre, your Centre Advisor is your first port of call.
You can also find both National Team and Regional Team contact details on the website under Contact.
If you are still unsure of who to contact then, please refer to the “Who should I contact?” page on our website, which is designed to point you in the right direction to get support.
