Background
In July 2023 the Trustee Board were delighted to announce the adoption of the Trust Deed as the new governing document for Te Whānau Tupu Ngātahi o Aotearoa, Playcentre Aotearoa. The Rules, currently in draft, which accompany the Trust Deed, have been written with our current and future Playcentre whānau in mind and provide the detail of how our governance framework will work. NOTE: to access the DRAFT Rules you will need to log in to the Playcentre website.
The consultation period for these rules is now open, offering an opportunity for your input before their finalisation and implementation in September. We invite you to share your feedback through one of the methods of consultation available.
In particular, some key rules you may like to consider include:
Rule 5 Hapori (Communities), explores the potential for geographically close Centers to establish connections, fostering environments of encouragement, idea-sharing, and mutual support. It outlines the resources available to facilitate these connections and empower our communities to thrive together.
Rule 6 Rōpū and Rule 7 Clusters, these rules look at how Whānau Māori and Centres organise themselves to connect and work with the Trustee Board on matters of governance, through consultation-based feedback.
Rule 9 Board of Trustees, this rule outlines our “one whānau one vote” process which allows whānau a direct involvement in the appointment of Trustees to govern our organisation.
Objectives of Consultation
These Rules outline how Whānau, Playcentres, Rōpū, Clusters, and the Trustee Board are interwoven to ensure that our organisation continues to meet its charitable purpose and the evolving needs of our tamariki and whānau.
