End of Financial Year

The 31st of August is the end of Playcentre’s financial year end.  We will be sending out a short questionnaire to all Treasurers to complete in early September.  The main things you will need to do are reconciling all transactions in the bank account and capitalising fixed assets.  Once you have done that, there is not much left for Treasurers to do – the national Finance team will take the figures from your Xero accounts and consolidate them into the Playcentre Aotearoa Group Accounts.  Some Centres will be chosen at random by our auditors and will need to provide bank statements to support the balance showing in Xero at 31st August 2022 – you will get a separate email about this if you are one of the chosen few.

What can you do to prepare?  If you are behind in your bank reconciliation, now is a good time to catch up.  Another good thing to check is that your fixed asset capitalisations are up to date.  If you get stuck, [email protected] is here to help.

Equity Reporting

Thank you to all Playcentres who provided information on how you spent your 2021 Equity funding.  We have collated this and provided it to the Ministry of Education.  Please note that you are required to present this information to your Centre Committee also.  For 2022 Equity Funding reporting, we will send the survey in October and suggest your spending is reported back to your centre with the end of year treasurer reports and then copied into the survey.

Space and Babies Can Play hosting

A reminder, if your centre hosts Space sessions or Babies Can Play, you need to raise an invoice for $20+GST per session and send these to Playcentre Aotearoa Accounts Payable [email protected].  Please invoice once a term.
