Pacific Languages Strategy launched
The Pacific Languages Strategy has been launched by Hon Aupito William Sio, Minister for Pacific Peoples and Associate Minister of Education.
The strategy sets a strategic direction for nine Pacific languages in Aotearoa and the actions that are needed to achieve this, including in early learning.
You can find more info on the strategy and how to bring it to life in your early learning service and communities on the Ministry for Pacific Peoples website.

Redesigning Te Marautanga – We want to hear from you
As you may have heard, we are redesigning Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, the curriculum document for kura and Māori-medium schools, to ensure it continues to provide sound guidance for learning and teaching, now and into the future.
Te Whakahou I Te Marautanga o Aotearoa – Kauwhata Reo
To ensure we can achieve this, we need to hear from, listen to and work with our sector.
To support this, we invite all kaiako, tumuaki, tumuwhakahaere, ākonga and whānau to share their thoughts about the redesign of Te Marautanga o Aotearoa through a five-minute survey in te Reo Māori or in English.
Te Whakahou i Te Marautanga o Aotearoa – Kōrero Mātauranga
Redesigning Te Marautanga o Aotearoa – Kōrero Mātauranga
Although your early learning provider may not use Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, your ākonga may graduate into a kura that does, and so we value and ask for your feedback on the redesign of Te Marautanga o Aotearoa to support Māori medium pathways and education.
These contributions will be used to shape the direction and development of the redesign so that together, we can design a curriculum that reflects all that kura, whānau and iwi value most.
Thank you for your help in redesigning Te Marautanga o Aotearoa.
Next steps
Over the coming year we will continue to engage with the sector and communities in various ways to ensure that we are engaging and listening to the most important voices, bringing you along in the journey and providing opportunities to do this together.
Please feel free to share this with your community and those who may be interested.
We ask that you share this survey with your networks and those who might be interested in placing feedback.
