Totō hau tōkiga nei, aua na tupulaga e fāi mai.

Plant a seed today, for the future generations.

One focus of our team of  PLD Facilitators is to support our tamariki  to learn about their culture and heratiage so they can be condfident in their identity.

I pose the question – How do we encourage our centre whānau to share their culture, stories and languages?

Karen Thomas one of our PLD team members has created some Talanoa  Starters(In many Pacific languages, talanoa means to tell a story or have a conversation), these are questions designed to encourage talanoa about topics that enable us to share what we feel comfortable to and develop a stronger connection within our Centre, with the hope, that over time, tamariki and kaiako feel a greater sense of belonging and will happily share. One way they can be used is when anau gather around the kaikai table, these patai can be utilized to see what sparks our talanoa for the day for all kaiako, whānau and tamariki. If this sounds like some PLD you feel your Centre might benefit from please reach out to our PLD Lead Karina Hart  ([email protected] )and she can find ways to support you through some PLD to implement the use of this resource.

As Facilitators aim to sprinkle  joy and inspiration around the motu they like to share with Centres in different ways, the journey they are on with them, here is a link to a short video clip around a creative way to provide paint by one of our facilitators.

The main focus for the PLD Team in Term 1 and 2 this year is focusing on providing support through our Ministry of Education-funded Strengthening Early Learning Opportunities (SELO) contract, via our SELO Clusters and Leadership Programmes. We are always willing to grow our capacity to respond to specific one-off requests, below are the contacts for your region.
