Grandparents Day

At Playcentre grandparents are a valued part of our village. It is a privilege for grandparents and mokopuna (grandchildren) to spend time together, and the benefits for both are huge.

New Zealand Grandparents Day is celebrated on the first Sunday in October each year.  It is a special day for honouring those with silver in their hair and gold in their hearts.

This year Grandparents Day is being celebrated Sunday 5 October

Our centres may hold whānau days around this time, or provide special activities to honour, recognise and celebrate grandparents. Whether you’re a primary carer, or just want to spend time with your mokopuna (grandchildren), you’re invited to visit!

Why Playcentre?

We are unique! Whānau attend with their tamariki to play, learn and grow together. We cater for tamariki aged 0-6 and are licensed early childhood education (ECE) services.

All whānau including parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles, and other caregivers are welcome to attend.

How much does it cost?

Doryan took her own daughters to Playcentre when they were small and now delights in being there with her grandchildren.

“I’m very happy I came here, I chose the correct place. I felt my Grandson was not mixing with other kids, which he is now”
