Financial Year End

The 31st of August is the end of Playcentre’s financial year.  We are required to produce Group Accounts, which will be used in our 2023 Annual Report.  Our Group financial statements are required by the Ministry of Education, the Tertiary Education Commission, Charities Services and various grant providers, so they are really important in ensuring we continue to get the funding we need to operate.

Finance will be working to produce the group financial statements over the next few months, but we can’t do it without your help!  A message has been sent to all Treasurers (based on Xero log-ins) so they can complete the Finance Pack 2023 Questionnaire by Friday 23rd September.  If your Treasurer has not received this email, they can access it here.

Playcentre Aotearoa’s new financial system

Playcentre Aotearoa is implementing a new financial system called Business Central from 1st September.  While Playcentres will continue to use Xero, this financial system is a key enabler of the new operating model, planned for next year.  In the longer term this system will help us lift the burden of compliance from Playcentre volunteers.  In the short term you may notice some differences to how Playcentre Aotearoa invoices look.  Our Finance team have done a huge amount of work to get the new system ready to go, so we have been getting behind in answering queries.  Apologies for this and we will be clearing the backlog as soon as possible and helping all our Treasurers to close off financial year end.

Incorporated Societies

If your Playcentre is an Incorporated Society, new regulations come into force in October.  Please check these out here.
