National events for May

There are several events this month, with NZ Music being a feature for the whole month of May. There are multiple benefits of music for tamariki, it supports general health and well-being, learning and growing.

NZ Music Month (May 23)

New Zealand Music Month all of May 2023

NZ Music is a feature for the whole month. There are multiple benefits of music for tamariki, it supports general health and well-being, learning and growing and most of all it is so much fun. Music has the ability to inspire, to be creative, enhance a mood or evoke emotion. It is a good idea to expose our tamariki to different styles of music.  Below are some links for waiata, many of them have words and music as well.  Maybe you have some of your own favourite music to share, maybe classical music or jazz?  Is there a concert or kapahaka rōpū that your centre can visit, or can you invite a musician to play for you?  Waiata mai! Kanikani mai!
