So many people have suffered loss, of loved ones, of homes, possessions and livelihoods. It is at times like these that we draw together to tautoko where we can, to koha time, resources and aroha. There is also a catchy waiata called Whiti Mai Te Rā – Ngā Āhua o te Rangi (The sun shines) composed by Mama Mate Taitua, who is passionate about sharing her waiata with everyone in the community of Te Awakairangi, Lower Hutt. He manu tīoriori ia! Mama Mates’ method of learning is simple, sing the same waiata every week, every month, eery term, for most of the year!

Congratulations to Te Kuiti Playcentre for their winning entry into our Ko Wai Au competition, they get to have a morning tea shout! Hūrō! It sounds like many alumi and current members consider Te Kuiti Playcentre as their tūrangawaewae and they value their graduates and life members. Kapa Haka in Tāmaki-Makaurau, Auckland

Ngāti Whātua ki Ōrākei was host to Te Matatini – (the many faces) over four days in late February. Known as the Olympics of fierce haka, amazing costumes, sweet harmonies, dramatic performances, history, whakapapa and whanaungatanga. Tāmaki-Makaurau – Auckland was the place to be to fill your wairua, hinengaro, and puku with all the kai on offer. The rest of us were cheering on our favourite Kapa Haka from the comfort of our couch.
